We Love A Parade

Floats!  Horses!  Dancers!  Bands! Cowboys! Wagons!

So in the morning before the Rodeo we joined thousands of Tucsonans along the two mile parade route.

An Afternoon at the Rodeo

Bareback Bronco                                                                                      Steer Roping

Saddle Bronco                                                                                               Calf Roping

Barrel Racing                                                                              Brahma riding

A fun time was had by the spectators.  Not so sure how the cowboys felt after their events.

Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument

This National Monument is on the border with Mexico about 100 miles west of Tucson.  From our campsite we could see the lights of the Mexican city just over the border.

16 foot high, 5 mile border fence plus many more miles of vehicle obstruction fencing, all closely monitored by numerous Border Patrol vehicles.

 Organ Pipe Cactus                                                           Crested Saguaro

We toured one small section of the monument with a ranger guide.  The birds do find some unusual places for a nest.

After the recent rainfall, the ocotillo cactus have begun to bloom.

This is the farthest west we will travel on this trip.  It’s now time to start slowly traveling east – New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, with two stops in Tennessee.
