New Jersey to Texas

By leaving home before “Bomb Cyclone” Grayson moved north along the east coast, we traveled southwest to Texas with sunny skies, strong winds and very low temperatures. Even in west Texas a fleece jacket was needed in the mornings but by early afternoon the sun warmed us up with almost 60 degree highs.

Texas Hill Country

The rolling Texas hills start just west of Austin where numerous wineries and breweries populate the roadsides. Abundant limestone is not only good for the vineyards but also for constructing fences and ranch buildings.

To get some needed exercise we visited Pedernales Falls and Enchanted Rock State Parks. Both had rocky, steep terrain. About 20 years ago we visited our nephew Matt and his wife Lisa in San Antonio. Lead by Matt, we had climbed Enchanted Rock. This time, when we got to the top of the dome we called him to reminisce about that visit. We did not find the climb difficult either time but now moved somewhat slower up to the top.
